Check out our video on the Fox Float 3 Evol Air Shock installation below.
Compatible with:
• SUPER73 R-Series models
Your ride has been elevated to the next level of performance and comfort. Swapping the stock rear shock for the FOX shock is a relatively easy task.
NOTE: If the following process is not within your skill set, we recommend taking your FOX Rear Shock to a professional cycle mechanic for installation.
SUPER73 does not recommend working on the bike while it is upside down, as doing so could damage the throttle, diamond display, or other parts around the handlebar.
A second set of hands is always useful when working on your bike, especially when removing or installing the rear shock.
Please visit FOX for more technical information on the FOX Float EVOL Rear Shock.
Tools Needed
- 4-mm Allen wrench (Qty 2)
The following are the default air spring pressure settings from the factory:
- Main Chamber: 50psi
- EVOL Chamber: 65psi
Rear Shock Removal Process
- Ensure the bike is upright and properly secured so it will not fall over.
- While holding the lower threaded sleeve with a 4-mm Allen wrench, loosen and remove the lower bolt with the other 4-mm wrench.
- Push the threaded sleeve out of the lower shock mount using the blunt end of the Allen wrench. You may have to lift the rear wheel/swingarm to release any tension on the sleeve.
NOTE: Avoid damaging the threaded sleeve.
- While holding the upper threaded sleeve with a 4-mm Allen wrench, loosen and remove the upper bolt with the other 4-mm wrench.
-
Carefully push the threaded sleeve out of the upper shock mount using the blunt end of the Allen wrench.
NOTE: Avoid damaging the threaded sleeve.
-
Remove the shock from the bike.
NOTE: When removing the rear shock be very careful you do not pinch your hand, as tension will be released from the frame and swingarm; the frame and swingarm will lower. Be careful the bike does not fall over.
FOX Shock Installation
- Install the brass bushings in the upper and lower eyelets of the FOX Float 3 EVOL rear shock.
NOTE: Be careful the brass bushings do not fall out of the shock eyelets.
- Place the threaded sleeves near the bike so you can reach them.
- Carefully align the upper shock eyelets between the upper shock mount on the frame.
NOTE: Do not lift the bike by the seat or the seat can be damaged.
- Slide the threaded sleeve through the upper eyelets.
-
Align the lower shock eyelets between the lower shock mount on the swingarm.
NOTE: You might need to raise the rear wheel/swingarm to align the lower eyelets.
- Slide the threaded sleeve through the lower eyelets.
- Finger-tighten the upper and lower bolts to avoid cross-threading.
- Fully tighten the upper then lower shock bolts using the 4-mm Allen wrenches.
- Torque the bolts to 9 N-m.
After installing the FOX Float 3 EVOL Rear Shock and fully tightening the mounting bolts, take the bike out for a short ride at low speeds to ensure everything is installed correctly and nothing is loose or rubbing.
