If you're used to cleaning a standard pedal bike, you probably feel pretty confident about where to start. An e-bike is a bicycle with some extra parts, right? Almost. E-bikes add a battery, motor, wiring, and other sensitive components, but the good news is that the learning curve is gentle. With the right supplies and a little know-how, keeping your SUPER73 looking great is easy.
How often should I clean my e-bike?
- Muddy trail rider: If you love blasting through the dirt, clean your bike at least once after every ride.
- Street rider: If your bike sees lighter, occasional use, a monthly cleaning is plenty.
What household supplies are safe to use?
No cleaning products on hand? You can put together a simple e-bike cleaning kit with items you may already have at home. Some supplies are worth setting aside just for your SUPER73:
- Light soap (regular dish soap is fine)
- Water (plain tap water works)
- A sponge and/or rag
- A dry cloth
Choose a smooth sponge rather than a coarse "scrubbing" sponge, which can scratch your bike. Avoid harsh cleaners and chemicals, such as bleach or anything containing ammonia. They can damage your bike's finish and harm its electrical components.
Which parts need extra care?
Keep high-pressure water and aggressive cleaning away from these parts:
- Hub bearing: the center of the rear wheel
- Bottom bracket: where the pedals connect through the frame
- Headset bearing: where the handlebars attach to the frame
- Brake pads, rotor, or discs

Which parts can I clean?
Everything else is fair game, including the seat, frame, wheels and tires, and fork. The key is keeping soap and water out of places they don't belong. That's why we recommend using a bucket of soapy water instead of spraying the bike directly. Microfiber cloths and quality cleaning products also help you clean carefully and thoroughly.
